My Story

Comparisons of war and litigation abound. A student of military history, it is fitting that these ancient maxims embody Tom's approach to  practicing law. In the litigation arena, many clients recognize that “peace” is often more desirable than “war” and less costly.  But if peace is desired,  it is the warrior most prepared for battle that usually achieves the most gratifying peace.  Litigation presents many challenges, but want of preparation is a challenge unknown to Tom. Throughout his thirty plus year career, Tom’s hard work, skill and efficient approach to preparation has served his clients well, in both war and peace.

Tom was admitted to the Louisiana Bar in 1983, and soon thereafter to all Louisiana federal district courts and the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. He was admitted to the Bar of the United States Supreme Court in 1993, and to the Texas Bar in 2011. Tom has litigated and tried numerous jury and bench trials in Louisiana state and federal district courts, and he has argued in multiple Louisiana appellate courts, the Louisiana Supreme Court and the United States Fifth Circuit. He has been selected in Louisiana “Super Lawyer” and among the “Top Lawyers in the New Orleans Area” in New Orleans Magazine. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the Defense Research Institute, the Counsel on Litigation Management, and the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel.

When not practicing law, Tom not only studies military history, but he is an avid baseball fan, enjoys travel and  working and playing outdoors.
